Sen. Rounds introduces bill to improve on-time news deliveries in rural America

To help improve rural newspaper delivery, U.S. Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) recently unveiled a bipartisan bill that would incentivize reliable service from the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) for periodical publications and limit rate increases. 

“Our common-sense legislation helps protect rural newspapers and consumers from unjustified price hikes by making certain the Postal Service is held to a standard for on-time deliveries,” said Sen. Rounds, who is one of eight cosponsors of the Deliver for Democracy Act, S. 1002, which would require on-time delivery of periodicals to unlock additional rate authority, according to the bill’s text.
