Reuters has announced the launch of a new live video transcription feature on the Reuters Connect platform, providing Reuters News Agency customers with AI-generated, time-coded English-language transcripts of live events as they happen. Customers benefit from faster turnaround — moving from live moments to published clips in minutes — thanks to integrated live transcripts and real-time clipping capabilities.
With live AI transcriptions, Reuters Connect users can see rolling, time-coded speech-to-text alongside live video of events, enabling faster headline writing and script creation. Once a live event concludes, a complete transcript record remains and is linked to the video-on-demand asset for continued editing and publishing.
The industry-leading offering builds on the AI features launched on Reuters Connect in recent years, including automated transcripts, translation and “scene lists” for on-demand video, further streamlining how customers discover, edit and publish video content using Reuters Connect. Together, these capabilities give Reuters Connect users a unified, AI-assisted workflow that carries them from live coverage through highlights and archive.
“Speed and accuracy are essential in live news,” said Alphonse Hardel, head of Reuters News Agency. “By bringing AI transcription into the live workflow on Reuters Connect, we're helping customers surface quotes, verify details and publish faster, without the need to switch tools.”
