Reuters launches Model Context Protocol server to bring trusted news directly into customers’ AI workflows

Posted

Reuters today announced the launch of its Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, a new AI-native integration designed to power agentic workflows for Reuters News Agency customers. The Reuters MCP server enables organizations to programmatically access and integrate Reuters trusted news within their existing platforms.

Unlike traditional APIs, the Reuters MCP server is built to enable AI agents to search, retrieve and download the Reuters content customers subscribe to. This shifts the model from manual retrieval to intelligent, automated integration, dramatically reducing search times, enabling automated content assembly and powering richer, multi-format storytelling.

Reuters News Agency customers can deploy AI agents to handle highly complex editorial and research tasks, for example:

  • Automated multimedia assembly: AI agents can automatically surface and insert highly relevant Reuters visual assets directly into drafts as journalists write, eliminating manual media searching and freeing up journalists’ time to spend on reporting and newsgathering.
  • Richer storytelling: AI agents can efficiently repackage stories into various formats, allowing Reuters News Agency customers to do more with less.
  • Smart content curation: AI agents can surface Reuters content for customers’ newsrooms to refine for their target audiences.

“As organizations increasingly rely on AI to process information, demand is shifting toward AI-native ways for our customers to access Reuters content,” said Alphonse Hardel, head of Reuters News Agency. “With the Reuters MCP server, we are enabling customers' AI agents to programmatically access our world-class journalism to automate routine editorial tasks and instantly assemble engaging content for their audiences.”
