Publishers are seeking solutions that improve efficiency while maintaining the high-quality content and design that readers expect. Presteligence is proud to support the transition to automated page building at The Day in New Haven, Connecticut, and The Gazette in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Ogden Newspapers as they prepare for live production.
The Day’s full-scale transition
The Day has fully embraced the My News 360 platform, transitioning its CMS, website and editorial page production to Presteligence. This move consolidates their digital and print workflows, enabling a more streamlined content management process. The newly hosted website went live in December 2024 for both theday.com and zip06.com.
Not only did their team learn a new CMS, but they also moved away from Adobe InDesign to build newspaper pages with My News 360 Dynamic Production. A browser-based engine built by Presteligence, Dynamic Production automates the placement of stories on pages and manual edits in newspaper design. Agate, news briefs and obituaries, for example, are placed on the page with the fonts and styles already formatted, thus requiring less time to build pages.
The system modernizes the daily budget through an online drag and drop interface, keeping the editor in control of content. It streamlines the page approval process and delivery of the final PDF for print.
As an extension to this project, The Day also transferred its electronic tearsheets service for advertising clients to Presteligence’s Adinfinitum.
Cedar Rapids’ next step in digital evolution
Meanwhile, The Gazette in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is making strategic adjustments as it transitions its print schedule from seven to three days, offering seven-day digital e-edition. The daily plans to utilize Dynamic Production to streamline the digital edition page building efforts. While Cedar Rapids will continue using its existing CMS, Presteligence will seamlessly pull content for print production where editors will budget content, edit and approve pages through the online portal. This ensures that digital and print teams can operate efficiently without disruption as the newsroom adapts to its evolving publication strategy.
Ogden Newspapers expands pagination desk
Ogden Newspapers is expanding its Ohio-based pagination desk to support publications in Michigan. Like The Gazette, My News 360 will receive content from a third-party CMS, with My News 360 pulling content from WordPress websites for The Daily Mining Gazette and The Mining Journal. This transition allows Ogden to centralize and standardize page production, utilizing Presteligence’s Dynamic Production tools to improve efficiency while preserving each publication’s unique editorial voice.
In 2024, editorial pagination for the Sandusky Register, Findlay Courier, Tiffin Advertiser-Tribune, Norwalk Reflector and Review Times shifted from the My News 360 InDesign extension to Dynamic Production.
These recent implementations highlight how publishers are leveraging My News 360 to modernize and automate their workflows. Whether managing a full-scale transition like The Day, strategically adjusting print and digital production like Cedar Rapids Gazette or optimizing page production like Ogden Newspapers, Presteligence remains committed to providing scalable solutions that fit the evolving needs of the industry.
