In a memo to staff on Monday, Washington Bureau Chief Anna Johnson and White House Editor Nancy Benac announced reporter Michelle Price will join AP’s White House team:

We are excited to announce that Michelle Price is joining our White House team in Washington. Most of you have had the chance to work with Michelle over the years and know firsthand what a terrific journalist and colleague she is.

Michelle brings a wealth of experience covering politics at the AP including reporting on Donald Trump’s campaign for president last year as a member of our national politics team. While on the campaign trail, she was fast with both breaking news and news she broke while also writing insightful stories that put the news of the campaign in the wider context. She has been working with the White House team since Nov. 5, and her experience covering the Trump campaign will put her in a strong position covering the administration.

Before joining AP’s national politics team in 2022, Michelle covered politics and government in New York, Nevada and Utah – three states that represent a wide political spectrum. She joined the AP in Phoenix in 2010.

Michelle will be moving from New York to Washington in early April. Please join us in congratulating her and welcoming her to DC!
