Matt McMillan elected chair of America's Newspapers

Matt McMillan, CEO of Press Publications, was elected chair of America's Newspapers during the annual business meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the Senior Leadership Conference.

In addition to McMillan, the following officers were elected:

  • Vice chair: Patrick Dorsey, publisher, Santa Fe New Mexican
  • Treasurer: Jeremy Gulban, CEO, CherryRoad Media

Leonard Woolsey, president of Southern Newspapers, Inc. and president and publisher of The Daily News in Galveston, Texas, becomes immediate past chair.

Board of Directors

Nancy Meyer

Nancy Meyer, president and publisher of the Houston Chronicle in Texas, was elected to serve a three-year term on the board of directors.  

Seven directors were elected to serve an additional three-year term on the board:

  • John Bussian, with The Bussian Law Firm
  • John DeAugustine, of The Daily Gazette
  • Kevin Hall, of Georges Media
  • James Paxton, of Paxton Media Group
  • John Rung, of Shaw Media
  • Jason Taylor, of  Gannett
  • Francis Wick, of Wick Communications

The following directors will continue to serve the balance of their terms:

  • Otis Brumby, of the Marietta Daily Journal
  • Lori Catron, of Gannett
  • Kevin Craig, of PAGE Cooperative
  • Michael Fishman, of Lakeway Publishers
  • Eliza Gaines, of WEHCO Media
  • Brian Jarvis, of WV News
  • Ted McGrew, of Kodak
  • Nick Monico, of Adams MultiMedia
  • Camille Olson, with Seyfarth Shaw
  • Tim Prince, of Carpenter Newsmedia, LLC
  • Zachary Richner, of Richner Communications
  • Bala Sundaramoothy, of the Tampa Bay Times
  • David Woronoff, of The Pilot

Bylaws amended 

The election of new officers and directors followed a vote by the membership to change the titles of:

  • The president to chair
  • Vice president to vice chair
  • Immediate past president to immediate past chair
  • And, CEO to president and CEO

The membership also voted to extend the maximum terms of directors to three full terms instead of two.
