Kearney, who grew up in rural north Louisiana near Shreveport, graduated with a degree in journalism from the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication in 1987. In the decades that followed, she built a career in south Louisiana at the intersection of communications, business and community.
“I have a passion for journalism, for education and for the truth, so to have the opportunity to contribute to providing the citizens of Louisiana with objective information about issues that are critical to our state is really important to me,” Kearney said. “I think it is important to our economy and to everyone who lives in Louisiana.”
Kearney previously worked as global director of corporate communications and external affairs at Intralox. Before her time at Intralox, she was the executive vice president and managing director of the Audubon Aquarium.
“Karyn will play a key role in connecting Georges Media with business and civic leaders across Louisiana. She’ll lead our philanthropic initiatives and explore new ways companies can partner with us to support and grow local journalism," said Kevin Hall, publisher of Georges Media.
