The Daily Iberian in Louisiana recently donated its 100-kilowatt Generac generator to a local church. The generator previously was used to power the paper's press during storms — before the newspaper stopped printing the paper locally, and no longer had a need for the generator.
In September 2019, the Daily Iberian moved from its home since 1979 on the southeast corner of Main and Lewis Street to 124 East Main. Preston Guillotte, the new owner of the former Daily Iberian property, and member of the St. Peter’s Church congregation, had an idea about the further use of the generator. “I thought, why not donate it to the parish? It would be such a relief and could help many people,” Guillotte said.
Francis Wick of Wick Communications, owner of The Daily Iberian, and Guillotte — together with Tim Hoffpauir, Wick’s real estate representative — worked out the details of the donation.
