Editor and Publisher (E&P), the authoritative voice of news media since 1884, has chosen Jennifer Bertetto, president and CEO of Trib Total Media, as the 2022 Publisher of the Year. Mike Blinder, publisher of E&P, announced the award at the Senior Leadership Conference of America's Newspapers on Monday.
Bertetto has been with Trib Total Media in the greater Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, area for nearly 17 years, starting in advertising sales in 1998. She held progressively responsible positions at the company until being named to her current position in January 2015. During her tenure as president and CEO, Trib Total Media has pivoted to a diversified, hyper-local strategy to deliver news and information to the citizens in Westmoreland County, the Alle-Kiski Valley and Allegheny County in western Pennsylvania.
Trib Total Media has also expanded its advertising offerings and launched 535media, a full-service digital agency. In addition, the Trib’s Neighborhood News Network, a pilot program with MeSearch, the Center for Media Innovation and Point Park University, includes 35 hyperlocal sites, with 18 of those sites delivering news and information to news deserts and underserved communities in western Pennsylvania.
