David Rau, 76, owner of Six Rivers Media LLC, died this weekend (Oct. 18) after fighting Alzheimer’s for more than two years.
Rau, along with his son, Allen Rau, and daughter, Madeline Rau, are principal owners of Six Rivers Media, which includes the Kingsport Times News, the Johnson City Press, the Erwin Record and The Tomahawk in Mountain City.
“We’re so grateful he’s at peace,” Allen Rau said. “He put up a hell of a fight; and the twists and turns surprised us quite often. Dad was proud of what he accomplished, proud of the company he worked for, and proud of the people he worked with. He made lifelong friends in Tennessee and his stories always included them.”
