Benjamin Goad, veteran editor and news director of The Tennessean, part of Gannett’s USA TODAY Network, has been appointed executive editor of the 117-year-old news organization. He is the 18th editor in the publication’s history.
Goad, 49, steps into the role of Michael A. Anastasi, who has led The Tennessean as its top editor for nine years. Anastasi also has served as Gannett’s vice president of local news across the USA TODAY Network of more than 200 newspapers since 2023. Anastasi was named USA TODAY Network senior vice president of local news this week, effective Dec. 30.
